Stop Urban Shield
The Berkeley City Council is considering pulling out of Urban Shield (with its global weapons expo and SWAT training), NCRIC (a fusion intelligence gathering center), and Bay Area USAI (Urban Area Strategic Initiative). These are all controversial and harmful policing and surveillance tools that are deployed in our communities. Join the Stop Urban Shield Coalition and CODEPINK to say “NO” to the militarization of disaster preparedness.
WHERE: Longfellow Middle School, 1500 Derby, Berkeley, CA
WHEN: Tuesday, June 20th. Rally at 5:30pm. Hearing: 6:00pm – 10pm
The community wants resources for mental health crises, earthquake and fire preparedness. We say no to increased militarization of police, our emergency medic services and our communities.

Can’t come? Call Berkeley City Council TODAY (even if you’re not a Berkeley resident) and demand that they take leadership in voting against Urban Shield and the militarization of Berkeley’s police, fire, and emergency first responders.
