Medea Benjamin will speak about her work and her new book Inside Iran, which “cuts sharply through the inflammatory rhetoric surrounding U.S.-Iranian relations to present a realistic and hopeful case for the two nations’ future” and asking the question “how is it that Iran has become the primary target of American antagonism, when Saudi Arabia – a regime far more repressive – has become one of America’s closest allies?”  Medea will sign copies of her book

Plus beloved musician Betsy Rose, and dynamic activist leaders working to build a peace economy and to DIVEST from the war economy. This promises to be a serious, energizing and uplifting event for all who are concerned with peace and justice.

6:30 pm Potluck dinner (organic + vegetarian please), music, information tables.

Eco-philosopher Joanna Macy PhD, is a scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology. A respected voice in the movements for peace, justice, and ecology, she interweaves her scholarship with five decades of activism.
Medea Benjamin is one of America’s best-known and most effective activists, co-founder of CodePink and Global Exchange, author of Drone Warfare and Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the U.S—Saudi Connection. In 2012 she was awarded the U.S. Peace Memorial Foundation’s Peace Prize, and in 2014 the Gandhi Peace Award.

The national CodePink organization organizes for justice for Iraqis and to hold war criminals accountable.
