CODEPINK Golden Gate Chapter Gathering: Beautiful Trouble!

May 20, 2017 @ 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Ohlone Park Berkeley
Hearst Ave & Ohlone Greenway
Berkeley, CA 94704

Join Codepink Golden Gate for a sweet gathering in the sunny outdoors at Ohlone Park.  Let’s Meet, Talk, Sing, Plan Actions to Defund War and Promote a Peace Economy.

We want your ideas, energy and creativity to plan and carry out actions to defund the war economy and promote a peace economy, weaving together the strands of environmental and social justice. Whether you’re interested in cutting the military budget & opposing $54 billion more for weapons and war; addressing climate change, income inequality, nonviolent revolution, health care for all, reproductive rights, sanctuary for immigrants; ending the drone warfare program; helping with relief for the famine and drought emergency in East Africa; supporting local sustainable energy and food production; connecting with women around the world working for peace and justice — we can work together in our women-led, creative, and loving CODEPINK style to address these issues and more.

Join a team, dream up strategic actions, get support to plan and carry out an action, activate and step up to make needed change. This is a facilitated meeting; we try to hear everyones’ voices while respecting our agenda and limited time. Women are powerful, women are peace-loving, women are going to lead the way.

Bring: a cushion, blanket or folding chair to sit on, drinks and snacks to share, sweater or jacket in case it’s chilly, good intentions

Special guest: Betsy Rose will lead us in beautiful song (http://www.betsyrosemusic.org)

From our National Site

The national CodePink organization organizes for justice for Iraqis and to hold war criminals accountable. CodePink actively opposes the U.S. war in Afghanistan, torture, the detention center at Guantanamo, weaponized and spy drones, the prosecution of whistleblowers, U.S. support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine and repressive regimes.

Rooted in a network of local organizers, CodePink's tactics include satire, street theatre, creative visuals, civil resistance, and directly challenging powerful decision-makers in government and corporations. And, of course, wearing pink!
