July 4th Bannering Action San Jose: Independence from War!!!

July 3, 2020 @ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Martin Luther King Library
150 E San Fernando St San Jose

The 4th of July has been a celebration of freedom and liberty in the United States which is why we choose to protest instead. According to Fannie Lou Hamer, there is no freedom to be celebrated because “No one is free until we are all free.” How can we celebrate something that is denied to the most vulnerable in our communities? This year, the staggering disparities of privilege and injustices that have been ingrained into our society have been even more exposed. Join us for one of our Independence from War Banner Drop this Saturday at 5pm PST to demand an end to war and violence while uplifting messages of peace and justice

From our National Site

The national CodePink organization organizes for justice for Iraqis and to hold war criminals accountable. CodePink actively opposes the U.S. war in Afghanistan, torture, the detention center at Guantanamo, weaponized and spy drones, the prosecution of whistleblowers, U.S. support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine and repressive regimes.

Rooted in a network of local organizers, CodePink's tactics include satire, street theatre, creative visuals, civil resistance, and directly challenging powerful decision-makers in government and corporations. And, of course, wearing pink!
