7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Congress

February 11, 2022 @ 12:00 AM – 9:00 PM

2022 Theme: “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us”

Unless progress is quadrupled, billions of people around the world will be without access to safely managed household drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services by 2030, according to the UN report. Growing water demand, poor water management and conservation, and climate change pose enormous challenges, necessitating a new sustainable holistic approach to support a coherent water strategy.

The 7th International Day for Women and Girls in Science recognizes the role of women and girls in science as not only beneficiaries but also agents of change, for example in accelerating the achievement of SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation) facility). The Congress will bring together women scientists and experts from around the world, senior government officials, representatives of international organizations and the private sector to discuss the importance of water in achieving the three pillars of sustainable development: economic prosperity, social justice, and environmental integrity.

The 7th Congress will be held at United Nations Headquarters on 11 February 2022 in a mixed online and offline format, organized by the International Trust of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Cyprus, Kenya, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Rwanda Co-organized by the Permanent Missions of , Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Tajikistan to the United Nations. The Assembly is also composed of the Permanent Missions to the United Nations of Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Australia, Bhutan, Chile, Latvia, Mexico, Ecuador, Finland, Greece, Nigeria, the Republic of Korea, San Marino and Uzbekistan and the United Nations Trade and Development Conference, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Telecommunication Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the United Nations Development Programme, UN-Water and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
