Recently, Representative Mark Pocan introduced the COVID Defense Act, legislation which would reallocate $10 billion in Pentagon funding to pay for global vaccine distribution. This is an important step toward supporting global solidarity over U.S. militarism!

As peace activists, it’s important that we’re advocating for peace legislation in Congress! Beyond sending emails and using phone calls, how can you successfully set up an online/in-person meeting with your Congressional Representative? What are important best practices?

At this CODEPINK Congressional Advocacy Training, Carley Towne, CODEPINK Co-Director and Shea Liebow, CODEPINK National organizer, will walk you through the steps necessary to setting up a meeting with your Congressional representative to ask them to co-sponsor the COVID Defense Act!

From our National Site

The national CodePink organization organizes for justice for Iraqis and to hold war criminals accountable. CodePink actively opposes the U.S. war in Afghanistan, torture, the detention center at Guantanamo, weaponized and spy drones, the prosecution of whistleblowers, U.S. support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine and repressive regimes.

Rooted in a network of local organizers, CodePink's tactics include satire, street theatre, creative visuals, civil resistance, and directly challenging powerful decision-makers in government and corporations. And, of course, wearing pink!
